Dosers & Timers
Most espresso machines these days are semi-automatic. Meaning the shot size and water flow is
managed by the on-board computer. The standard setup is shown below but be sure to check
how your espresso machine has been programmed. Re-Programing can sometimes delete all
other settings. Check the manufacturers guidelines to be sure.

1.
1x Short Espresso Shot (20ml)
Some programs run the espresso button as espresso (30ml) or restretto (20ml).

2.
1x Std Espresso Shot (30ml)
Some programs run this as 1x long black (60ml or 30ml) The standard long black is a 30ml shot and hot water to stretch the drink.
3.
2x Short Shots (40ml - 20ml each side)
Some programs run this as 60ml shots (30ml Each side).
4.
2x Base Shots (60ml - 30ml each side)
5.
Manual Flow. Usually used during backwash cleaning however it can also be used as a "free flow" to clean your porter filter or run a specific sized shot.
